Our vision is for each child to soar to their highest potential socially, physically, academically, and most important, spiritually.
Curriculum- St.Luke's Christian Academy uses the ABEKA Curriculum as a base for our classroom instruction.
We use the ABEKA Bible curriculum. We teach Bible stories featuring both Old and New Testament stories. Our students are engaged in a manner that the Bible characters and stories to life in order for them to apply God's word and love in their daily living.
We teach phonemic awareness and phonological skills through songs, poems, and guided practice through small group instruction. Literacy centers are used to reinforce skills previously taught. Children are engaged with these during the morning as guided reading is being taught.
We use a hands-on approach in teaching our math curriculum. Each new concept is taught using Math centers and small group instruction to help young students learn to apply the new concept.
Science and Social Studies:
Science and social studies are introduced to our young learners throughout our language development curriculum. We study zoo animals, ocean animals, plants, presidents and symbols of the United States, children around the world, multi-cultural studies, seasons of the year, and community helpers.
Our young learners are taught writing skills through fun and creative methods such as finger painting, writing in sand and rice, writing on dry erase boards and chalkboards. They are engaged in activities involving picking up small items with tweezers and painting to help them develop large and fine motor skills. Once they are able to grasp writing instruments they begin writing their names and alphabets.
